Past Due Policy

Discontinued Service
  • Your electric service may be discontinued if you fail or refuse to pay CCECA according to your electric service agreement or rules, applicable rate schedule, or deferred payment.
  • At least 10 days before your electric service is scheduled to be disconnected, CCECA will mail a notice with the words “final notice.” The disconnection day cannot fall on a weekend day or holiday, but will fall on the next business day after the 10th day.
  • You can stop the disconnection by paying your full balance within the 10-day period at a CCECA office or by calling (903) 683-2248.
  • If CCECA must dispatch an employee for disconnection because of a delinquent bill, then you must pay the applicable fees.

Fees and rules are subject to change by the Cherokee County Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.

Delinquent Payment
  • Your bill is due on the 15th of the month, payment not received are considered delinquent, and you will be charged a late payment fee of 5% of the bill.
  • CCECA will send you a delinquency notice when a payment is not received by the due date. Once the notice is issued, you have 10 days to pay your electric bill, or your service will be at risk for discontinuation.
  • If your electric service is discontinued for bill non-payment, you must pay the full amount owed, disconnect/reconnect fee, adverse action fee, and a deposit if applicable.

You must pay the delinquent amount in full at a CCECA Office or by calling (903) 683-2248.
