Rate Changes

The board and management conducted a cost of service study to determine revenue requirements to maintain the financial stability necessary for growth and escalating inflationary costs. Examples of the increases in costs for essential materials used in our daily operations are shown in the Material Cost Comparison schedule. The schedule compares the 1988 costs to the current costs. The study indicated a need to increase the Cooperative’s current rates.

CCECA has deferred a rate increase for eighteen years and the rate increase we are now implementing is relatively small on an individual basis. However, as a whole it will ensure that your Cooperative can continue to provide reliable electric service. The new rates will be effective January 1, 2007 and will be reflected on the bill you receive at the first of February 2007. A residential member using 1,000 kWh a month will see an increase of about $7.00 per month above their 2006 monthly bill.

As always, any revenue above expenses will be returned to our members in the form of capital credits. Cherokee County Electric Cooperative will continue to keep our costs as low as possible and strive to improve the electric service provided to our members.
