Energy Usage:

Major energy consuming appliances include refrigerators, freezers, ranges and ovens, air conditioners, clothes dryers, washing machines, furnaces, and dishwashers. Smaller energy users include clocks, irons, toasters, and a whole range of kitchen and bathroom aids. Below is a breakdown of the most common appliances and their estimated energy requirements.

** Kwh usage shown is for constant operation of compressor for one hour. When unit is operated full-time on a daily basis, subject to thermostat control, the compressor may cycle off up to 40%, and the hourly average cost would be lower.

***Each dishwasher load uses about 2-1/2 kwh for hot water. Each washing machine load uses about 5 kwh for hot wash/hot rinse cycle and about 1 kwh for warm wash/cold rinse cycle.

****Energy consumption is measured in kilowatt hours (kwh) - the units of energy which flow through your electric meter. To figure approximate energy costs, multiply estimated kwh by 11 cents per kwh.
