Upon receipt of the above information, the new member should allow the easement department two to three working days to check the easement, then call and speak with the staking engineer. to schedule an appointment to have the job staked. Once the staking requirements have been completed, the engineer will inform the customer of any additional fees, easements, or meter pole requirements.

At this time the job will be scheduled for construction. Please allow several weeks for construction to be completed. This may take longer during inclement weather. For information concerning when the job is scheduled you may call the Line Superintendent's office in Rusk at 903-683-2248 or the District Office Manager in Chapel Hill at 903-566-5028.

Please call our Customer Service Department at 903-683-2248 or long distance at 1-800-992-4280 if you have any questions.

 LINE CONSTRUCTION – BASIC GUIDELINES:

Overhead

1000 feet of overhead service will be built at no expense to a permanent residence. Mobile Homes will be subject to review.

Underground

An allowable expenditure formula is used to calculate the cost of all underground installations. This formula results in an average cost to be approximately $4.50 per foot. Normally there is a $500 minimum for any underground installation less than 110 feet.

Meter Loops & Meter Loop Poles

A minimum of a 16-foot pole is required and the member is required to furnish the pole.  The Staking Engineer will determine what size meter loop pole is needed for your application.   All temporary "saw poles" are required to be 12 feet from the ground to weatherhead and weatherhead must not extend beyond the top of the pole and must be within 6" from the top of the pole.

If you have any questions, please call the engineering department at 903-683-2248.
